Wrexham have secured the signing of Aston Villa left back Sebastian Revan and he will have one familiar to face to lean on at the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham fans once again flocked to watch a printer last Monday evening.

Other fanbases may not know the power of Wrexham’s printer but the HP Smart Tank has become another celebrity addition alongside Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Last Monday saw the printer bring out not one but two contracts.

The first was for goalkeeper Callum Burton after his exit from Plymouth Argyle before Wrexham also confirmed the signing of Aston Villa left back Sebastian Revan.

Both players received Deadpool clauses in their contracts and flew out to the United States for the club’s pre-season tour.

Sebastian Revan knows Wrexham’s Lewis Brunt

Burton’s arrival as a second-choice goalkeeper may not have set pulses racing, but Revan is certainly an exciting addition.

MORE WREXHAM STORIES

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Rotherham United and enjoyed a full campaign of Championship action.

Revan will likely play as a left wing back for Wrexham but has also shown the ability to play as a left-sided centre back if needed.

Revan has been through a whirlwind week, from signing on the dotted line to being whisked off the United States in rapid fashion.

There is a familiar face for Revan to fall back on though after Lewis Brunt joined Wrexham earlier in the summer.

Brunt and Revan have crossed paths before having both come up through the ranks at Aston Villa together.

Revan joined the VIlla ranks at the age of just six and whilst Brunt is two years older, they did feature together on six occasions in the Villa Under-23’s.

Villa lost four of those six games and even lost one game 8-1, but that connection should help Revan settle in a little.

Their first game together came way back in 2019 with Revan starting at left back and Brunt in midfield as Villa’s Under-23’s lost 4-0 to West Ham United.

Revan and Brunt also hail from similar areas, West Bromwich and Birmingham, just 15 minutes apart.

The connection is already there and may not just help the duo on a personal level, but potentially on the pitch too as the new season draws closer.

We have already seen George Dobson reunite with old teammates Eoghan O’Connell, Elliot Lee and Ollie Palmer, with Revan now able to reunite with a former teammate too.

Revan and Brunt both provide versatility

Not only do Revan and Brunt come from similar beginnings, but they offer major versatility to boss Phil Parkinson.

Brunt primarily plays as a right back and will be suited to playing either in the middle or on the right side.

The 23-year-old may be right-footed but has also shown the ability to play as a left-sided centre back or even left back, whilst he has even played as a holding midfielder.

That flexibility will be invaluable over the course of a long League One season and the same goes for Revan.

Revan predominantly featured at left back or left wing back last season but even had stints at centre back and right back.

Landing two young players with great versatility is ideal for this Wrexham squad, and the fact that they already know each other just makes these two moves even better.
